Your Chromebook automatically checks for and downloads updates when it is turned on with the lid open and connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Chrome OS will get updates periodically, so it is important to have the most updated operating system to ensure that applications work the way they are intended. Payment for replacement of a damaged district device can be made at your campus, or at the Administration Building, 400 W.All students are expected to bring a fully charged Chromebook to school each day.If the items are not returned to the district in an acceptable condition, the student will lose the right to free instructional materials and the technological equipment until the student or the student’s guardian pay for the damaged or unreturned items. Crandall ISD follows the Texas Education Code section 31.104(d) places responsibility of the condition of instructional material and technological equipment on a student or the student’s parent or guardian.Damage or loss of device due to negligence and/or repeated incidents may require a student’s family to pay for repair or replacement. If a Chromebook is damaged, destroyed, lost or stolen, it will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
If a device is stolen it will not work outside our district’s Google Apps environment. Each device is assigned to that student at the time of distribution. Much like a textbook that student borrows, a Chromebook belongs to Crandall ISD.
